Terms of Service


Before signing up, please email me to check my current wait list. If you are ready to book my next available slot, please complete the sign up form and pay the deposit. For all custom designs, a non-refundable $100 deposit is required to hold your place on the wait list. 


At the start of your design window, a Paypal invoice will be sent for half of the remaining balance for your package, which must be paid before I begin work. Upon completion of your design, a Paypal invoice will be sent for the remaining balance, which must be paid before installation. 
For all other work, payment must be made in full before work begins. No design work will be published on a client’s site until payment in full has been made. Chalk & Apples does not offer refunds on partial or full payments, even if you decide to cancel.

Blog Homework 

Within approximately 24 hours of receiving your deposit, I will email you with your design start date and your blog homework. Part 1 of the blog homework must be completed no later than the 20th of the month prior to your start date. Failure to complete your blog homework will result in the loss of your design slot.

Communication & Turnaround Time

All communication takes place via e-mail, and the process often requires many quick back and forth messages. I will communicate with you via email, Facebook Messenger, or Voxer chat. Please ensure that you are checking your messages at least once every 24 hours during your design slot. My goal is to complete your blog within 2 weeks to 1 month. In order to accomplish this, we must communicate quickly. Failure to respond to emails or other messages within 24 hours will cause a delay in your project. If you fail to respond for more than 5 days, I reserve the right to suspend your project. In this case, you will lose your design slot. The quicker we can communicate, the quicker we can get your new design finished and installed!

Design Proofs & Revisions

Your design is created based on your design questionnaire, so please be as specific as possible. When your header design is ready, I will send you a proof. Please request any design changes at this time, before I have created the other design elements. Once the header is approved and I begin creating other elements, a major change (such as requesting a different layout, different fonts, or a change to the color palette) will incur additional fees at the hourly rate. 

Revisions after Installation

Once a design has been installed on the client’s site, only very minor revisions will be made (changing the color of links, or the font for post dates/titles, etc.). Any changes that require revision of the design images or HTML coding will incur additional fees at the hourly rate.

Terms of Use

*You May:
  • Use your button on social media, online storefronts, or for marketing purposes. 
  • Add widgets and/or plugins to your blog. I will not be held responsible if this causes loss of data or theme errors. 
*You May NOT: 
  • Alter your blog header or background. 
  • Alter design elements (Such as your signature, post icon, post divider, etc.).
  • Change the fonts or colors in your theme.  
  • Add design elements that you have created (without express permission from me).
  • Share design elements with others. 
  • Remove the design credit. 

General Liability

It is your responsibility to back up your blog before I begin design work. (See this tutorial for instructions.) 

Once your design is finalized and installed, I will send you a zip file of your images. It is your responsibility to save this file in the event that you need it later. I may not save all of your design elements. 

Any changes that you implement on your site/blog may result in a loss of data or disruption of the theme. I will not be held responsible for any such loss of data or theme. If needed,  I can re-install your design at 50% of the original cost.

Hourly Rate

The rate for all hourly work is $50/hour and is billed in 30 minute increments with a minimum charge of one hour.  Weekend and/or rush work will require additional payment at time and a half. 


All designs are uniquely created & owned by Chalk & Apples Blog Design and are protected under copyright laws. Copyright on all software and code remains the property of Chalk & Apples Blog Design or its otherwise respective owner. All blog designs created by Chalk & Apples are intended to be used as created. Clients may make minor changes to the design, such as adding additional sidebar labels, etc. but should not make major changes to designs created by Chalk & Apples without express permission from me to do so. If the client wishes to make major changes to the design, he/she should remove all design elements created by Chalk & Apples prior to doing so.


Please note that by submitting your payment for my services you are agreeing to all of our terms of service as written here. Chalk & Apples Blog Design reserves the right to change or update these terms at any time without prior notice.
